KEKE NAPEP BAN: CACOL SLAMS LAGOS GOVERNMENT


The Coalition Against Corrupt Leaders (CACOL) has condemned in strong terms, the anti-poor policies, pro-capitalist tendencies and the tyrannical government of Mr. Babatunde Raji Fashola in Lagos State.
This came on the heel of the ban on Tricycles on the major roads in the State.
Lagos State Commissioner for Transportation, Mr. Kayode Opeifa, at a press briefing yesterday, said the state government has banned the Tricycles popularly called Keke Napep from plying major roads in the state, saying their operations constitute nuisance on the state roads. EFCC, OGD and Politics of Prosecution

It is a well known fact that corruption and impunity are at the core of Nigeria’s political and socio-economic ills. The undesirable wholesome effects of corruption, no doubt, provoke damning condemnation of any person alleged of corruption even before such allegation is proven in the court of law. To this extent, ‘presumption of guilt’ has become a burden to which public officers accused of corruption must contend with. Indeed, while it is necessary to sustain the tempo of public resentment against the scourge of corruption in Nigeria, if that would truly serve the interest of justice at the end, it is increasingly becoming a source of concern that an accused may suffer grossly and unjustly before the conclusion of corruption trial. Probe Obasanjo now: CACOL tells FG

The Coalition Against Corrupt Leaders (CACOL) has called on the Federal Government to expedite action at prosecuting former President Olusegun Obasanjo for the financial malpractices he perpetuated during his eight year regime.

This call followed the statement credited to the former president asking the FG to prosecute him for all wrongs done in his administration rather than prosecuting his aides. WHAT IS FASHOLA HIDING?


The Coalition Against Corrupt Leaders (CACOL) has called on the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) to the investigate the governor of Lagos State, Mr. Babatunde Fashola, SAN over the allegations of massive corruption perpetrated in the state.
This call came at the heel of the statement credited to the Lagos State Chapter Peoples Democratic Party. The party, through its Chairman Chief Tunji Shelle, had said that it was convinced of massive corruption in the administration of the state under Governor Fashola. Reacting to President Jonathan’s statement that petrol price would go up, the Executive Chairman of the Coalition, Debo Adeniran, warned that the federal government should be wary of heating up the polity with any careless move, because the nation is sitting on the keg of a gunpowder. CACOL CONDEMNS BUHARI’S APPOINTMENT AS UNN GOVERNING COUNCIL MEMBER

The Coalition Against Corrupt Leaders (CACOL) has condemned the appointment of the former Speaker House of Representatives, Alhaji Salisu Buhari, as a member of the Governing Council of University of Nigeria, Nsukka.

According to a statement issued by the Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF), Chief Anyim Pius Anyim, in Abuja, President Goodluck Jonathan has approved the composition and appointments of the chairmen and members of the governing councils for some federal universities. University of Nigeria, Nsukka, has Prof. Emeka Enejere as the Chairman of Council, while Alhaji Salisu Buhari, Chador  Labar,  Harison Onwu, and Chief Akin Taiwo are members. CACOL CENSURES LAGOS GOVT OVER PROSECUTION OF BEGGARS

The Coalition against Corrupt Leaders (CACOL) has censured the Lagos State Government for the prosecution of 39 beggars at the Special Offences Court in Alausa, Ikeja, for soliciting alms.

The Lagos State government has claimed that the beggars constituted public nuisance and were parading themselves as disorderly persons without viable means of livelihood, thereby committing an offence under the Criminal law of Lagos State.
